Who The Hell Is That Weirdo?
I'm somewhat caught in between a geek, nerd, anime-fan, cosplayer, gamer, inline-skater, ice-skater, gym-rat and a professional software developer. I'm trying to improve myself constantly while also being a slave to two gorgeous felines and a beautiful python and tamer of a motorcycle. And, well, a content creator - I guess. And if that's not enough I am lazy as hell.
Profession
Yes I'm a professional software developer and I started my trainee-ship 2012 and finished it in 2014. Even though I'm sometimes scripting in bash, batch, python and occasionally javascript (thanks to Obsidian) but my expertise is in the language is c++.
Hobbies
I try to skate a couple of nights a week. Yes, I like to skate in the night, because there is usually little to no traffic. That way I can use the streets rather than the sidewalks. That may make the Slalom Skating a bit harder but I try my best to keep this up at a moderate level. Since I enjoy it in the night as well, I don't care that much if I can't perform "higher level tricks" like Wheeling that good. There's also a weekly skate night in my city, where I try to participate in.
In the winter months I usually change the shoes and surface and swap to Ice Skating. Trust me, with my crew it's a lot of fun!
Well of course I love gaming but I had to find a way to make it at least kind of useful and/or give it a purpose. To make it valuable to me I started streaming and my preferred language is English. The reason is simple: Back in the days when I was participating in Slalom Skating tournaments I was forced to talk in English. Once I stopped taking any part in these events, around 2018, I rarely have to communicate in English. Since I read pretty much everything in English I usually don't have any problems understanding anything in English. But I'm quite bad in expressing myself especially while speaking. Since I wanted to improve my spoken active vocabulary and speaking a bit, I started streaming.
I like anime and cosplay occasionally a character I resonate with.
My Hunger For Knowledge
During the COVID pandemic I started to work on myself. I worked on my mindset, tried to acquire more knowledge in a variety of areas and started journaling. I used bullet journaling for my daily planning and notes, and a journal that contained the information on a monthly scale as well as an overview of my goals for the upcoming year and the progress. It was a very good experience and improved my life to a level I never thought possible at that time. At a certain point it felt tideous to literally copy and paste certain things like my habit tracker. That's when I found out about Notion at the end of 2022. I played around for quite q while and finally started to port everything to Notion. The automation saved a lot of valuable time, and after implementing the evaluation, that part was taken care of. Now my daily journaling was reduced by roughly 30min on average per day. Yes, I painted my daily-log every single day and the evaluation took some time, depending on the day of the week as well. Not to mention the weekly planning.
Due to privacy of my employer's data I needed to use a different way, to keep my thoughts and notes. Year's ago I earned a One-Note certificate and discarded it after like 3 Months of use. It was not really that useful. So I didn't even think about using One-Note. So I searched for other note-taking tools and found out about Obsidian. I played around with it and started to use it.
Today I'm only using Obsidian, even though I still have to migrate a vast amount of notes from Notion to my Obsidian Vault.
Why Not Shar Some Notes And Thoughts?
At the beginning of April 2025 I come across Digital Garden - an Obsidian Community plugin that allows to populate Notes from Obsidian via combination of GitHub and a WebHost Provider into a website. Well, welcome to The Den aka my digital garden. I started out blogging and stopped it at least twice, since it was such a burdening task. The Digital Garden Plugin makes it so much easier to publish notes and build a Digital Garden.
